This is Jeremy Teicher’s (director) third feature-length film following his 2012 movie, Tall as the Baobab Tree, and his 2016 effort, Tracktown – also based on ‘Olympic dreams’ so to speak. Craig Roberts, actor-turned-writer-turned director, arrives at the 2020 Glasgow Film Festival with his second feature-film from behind the camera, Eternal Beauty. In an honest and refreshing approach, Eternal Beauty tackles a few tough social subjects with an array of talent on the bill including Sally Hawkins, David Thewlis, Alice Lowe and Billie Piper. 2/3/2020 GFF'20: Eden film review.By Adam Ray Palmer
Snævar Sölvason, writer/director hailing from Iceland, brings us his third feature-film in the strand of the aptly named ‘Iceland’ at this year’s Glasgow Film Festival. Eden stars Sölvason’s common collaborator Hansel Eagle and Icelandic actress Telma Huld Jóhannesdóttir in her third full film. 29/2/2020 GFF'20: Escape From Pretoria.By Adam Ray Palmer
Francis Annan’s apartheid thriller was the movie I was most excited about from this year’s edition of the Glasgow Film Festival. I’m a big fan of Daniel Radcliffe, and the Escape From Pretoria narrative would have anyone interested who love a true-life, slow-burning action film. 23/2/2020 Parasite film review.By Adam Ray Palmer
This is certainly a late review when it comes to the Oscars, but an on-time one when it comes getting people to the theatres to see it. Arguably 1917 will be the war film of the year, and to be honest, it is certainly the best this decade so far… Sam Mendes brings the world a military epic of seismic magnitude. The technical pieces, the acting and the soundtrack are just three of the outstanding components. Let’s not waste time, I am writing this review in one single take (maybe three or four *hint hint) … |
