Screening to a packed audience waiting to be whisked away to an Amazon city, James Gray writes and directs this lengthy piece of cinema that transports you to a place unknown. The Lost City of Z stars Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson… By Adam Ray Palmer Today’s review is a sneaky DVD preview of The Edge of Seventeen that hits the shelves on Monday 27th March – not long to wait! Written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, The Edge of Seventeen stars the talented Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Blake Jenner and Hailey Lu Richardson. I heard big things over the pond in the US so I was more than looking forward to this one… 21/3/2017 The Founder Film Review.By Adam Ray Palmer Today’s review is a documentary-drama-comedy-type-of-thing called The Founder. The Phoenix Leicester screened the film in a late night showing earlier this week to an intrigued crowd. I say intrigued because the subject matter is extremely well-known, but all the details throughout the tales are not widely known as this movie is based on a true story. Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch star… 16/3/2017 Hidden Figures FIlm Review.By Adam Ray Palmer We saw Hidden Figures earlier this week at the Phoenix Cinema in a packed, energetic theatre. The screening even ended with a decent amount of clapping. I hadn’t heard clapping at the end of film since the Venice Film Festival last year, but as unexpected as that was, Hidden Figures has also done some unforeseen records too. Read our review of the little gem of a film below… 14/3/2017 The LEGO Batman Movie Film Review.By Adam Ray Palmer Today’s review is a dark, gritty superhero film with a lorry-load of evil villains. Back in the summer of 2014, the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ became a huge internet phenomenon; raising money and awareness for MND (Motor Neurone Disease) or as it’s commonly known in the US as ALS. Gleason deals with one man’s diagnosis and deterioration from the disease, plus the impact it has on his relationships with his wife and infant son. 2/3/2017 Moonlight Film Review.By Adam Ray Palmer I went along to the buzzing Phoenix cinema in Leicester on Tuesday night to catch the newly crowned ‘Best Picture’ at the Oscars 48 hours previous. I chose against catching Moonlight at festivals last year… don’t ask me why… so I was playing catch up with Barry Jenkins’ powerful piece. With many awards in the bag, my expectation was high. Surely, it’s not better than La La Land? |
