Our verdict: Thriller, Ana de Armas, mystery, Ana de Armas, tense and did we mention Ana de Armas is in it? THE LOVEBIRDS Director: Michael Showalter Writers: Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall Stars: Issa Rae, Kumail Nanjiani, Anna Camp Plot: A young couple (Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani) is pulled into a bizarre (and hilarious) murder mystery. Working to clear their names and solve the case, they need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night. Our verdict: Basically, quite similar to The Night Clerk, with a bit more humour to it. Give them both a whirl? BLACK WIDOW Director: Cate Shortland Writers: Jac Schaeffer (story by), Ned Benson (story by) Stars: Florence Pugh, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. Plot: A film about Natasha Romanoff in her quests between the films Civil War and Infinity War. Our verdict: Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh in a female-led, kick-ass movie? Sign us right up. GUNS AKIMBO Director: Jason Lei Howden Writer: Jason Lei Howden Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Samara Weaving, Rhys Darby Plot: A guy relies on his newly acquired gladiator skills to save his ex-girlfriend from kidnappers. Our verdict: Just watch the goddamn trailer, it’s a hoot. A QUIET PLACE: PART 2 Director: John Krasinski Writers: Scott Beck (characters), John Krasinski Stars: Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe Plot: Following the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realise the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.
